TEACHING GIVEN TO CHILDREN DURING CHILDREN’S MASS ON 17TH
NOVEMBER, 2019 FROM THE SECOND READING BY SIS OGBOJI NNEOMA CAROL
WORK HARD AND PRAY ALWAYS
BIBLE TEXT: 2 Thessalonians 3: 7-12
MEMORY VERSE: 2 Thessalonians 3:
12- ‘in the name of the lord Jesus Christ we command these people and warn them
to lead orderly lives and work to earn their living.’
TEACHERS OBJECTIVE: To make the
children to know the importance of hard work and to know that laziness is not
an attribute of a child of God.
CHILD RELATED TRUTH: He who does
not work does not eat. Jesus was a carpenter and he always helped his father in
his shop.
INTRODUCTION
What is work?
Do we need to work hard?
What would we like to become when
we grow up?
Work is an effort done to achieve a
goal or result. If we do not work, we will not eat. If you do not read your
book you will fail and repeat the class. If you do not wash your plate after
eating, you will eat with a dirty plate like pigs.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
St Paul is telling us in today’s
second reading not to be lazy. If we are lazy, we would not be able to read our
books and become doctors, engineers, professors, lawyers, etc. We should also
do our assignments and help our parents at home by performing our house chores (washing
plates, sweeping the house, washing our parent’s cars, cleaning their shoes, etc.)
If we are good children and respect our parents they will always bless us.
Jesus is also telling us that we
should always pray and ask God to give us his grace to be able to work hard. This
is because on our own we can do nothing but with God everything is possible.
CONCLUSION
Hard work really pays. Jesus was a
hardworking boy when he was younger and so we should emulate him if we want to
become lawyers, doctors, etc. and be wealthy.
PRAYER
My lord Jesus please give me your
grace to be able to do my work very well and as I do it, please bless me. Amen.
